The Twelfth Month

Such a great, emotional month.

A BUSY month! In the month leading up to their birthday, we went to the Dominican, Georgia (which can seem like another country) and South Carolina ... so I was busy, busy planning their party -- will save that for another post.

A month filled with Milestones!!!

Milestones:

*Emma took her first steps two weeks after her birthday. Olivia took her first steps on her 13 month birthday. Both were surreal moments. We have them caught on video, but will have to download them. I was so proud of each of my children.
*Olivia had 6 teeth on her birthday and Emma had 1.5 teeth.
*Emma preferred her right hand and Livi preferred her left.
*These girls are just VERY happy little girls. They love to play with others and we can tell that they are going to be sensitive, caring human beings. They love to share things and love playing with their toys.

Stats:
Emma:
Weight: 19.59 pounds
Height: 29 1/4 inches
Head Circumfrence: 45 inches

Olivia:
Weight:19 pounds on the dot
Height: 28 3/4 inches
Head Circumfrence: 17 1/4 inches

Dr. Slowik didn't write down their percentiles this time, but it doesn't matter. I think our girls will always be little (like mom was until recently).

Sleeping
The girls were still sleeping 12 hours a night and 2 2-hour naps during the day... ahhhmazing.

Eating
The biggest change to their routine this month was the transition from bottles to sippy cups. As you recall, the girls didn't acutally learn to take a bottle until about 10 months old and once they mastered that, they refused to take milk from any other contraption. And, believe me, we tried EVERYTHING. I must have purchased every single type of sippy cup under the sun until we found the soft spout Nuby sippy cup. They weren't perfect, believe me, the top would collapse every few sips, but we had them drinking milk from a sippy cup, darnnit. I tried sooo hard to make this work. Other than that, the girls were still eating like champs. We added scrambled eggs in the morning which was a challenge because they hated them at first. We also added more beans and tried to get them to eat more meat... they hate meat. We also changed their snacks to healthier ones. No more crackers! They had to eat cheese or fruit for a snack.
