The above monthly picture is, unfortuantely, the best I could do. The girls were especially fiesty that day. Olivia hated her bow and Emma really, really wanted the crinkly piece of paper behind her.
Every day is amazing with these two, but this was an especially important month. By 11 months old, they were finally weaned. I did it! I breastfed TWINS for 11 months. I will eternally be proud of this feat ... it certainly wasn't easy, but it was totally worth it. Of course, it is a thankless job. I mean, I don't say to my mother "thanks for breastfeeding me." That is weird. But, knowing that they received the benefit of mother's milk makes me so very happy.
Milestones:
The girls were cruisin' up and down the block. I mean, they were incredibly efficient in that department. Short of just letting go and walking, these girls were very mobile and had mastered getting around on two feet just by barely touching furniture. I was really proud of them. Olivia had four teeth, Emma had none. Livi still prefers her left hand, Emma her right. Both girls LOVE their grandparents ... to a point where it almost hurts my feelings. I mean, I think it is really important that my kids love their grandparents. But, sometimes, it really hurts when my kids don't want to come to me! I died when we got home from Punta Cana. Allen and I were so expecting them to just melt when they saw us. Afterall, we had never been away from them. So we thought it would be a good idea (hindsight is 20/20) to wake them up and greet them... well, they had a complete meltdown and were totally scared. Basically wanted nothign to do with us. I was crushed, naturally. I'm sure, though, that the grandparents loved it and made them feel very important. haha. Anyway, I'm glad, however, that I can leave the room (or the country!) and my kids won't freak out. I know too many kids that have that attachment and the mothers get nothing done. My kids love everyone. Anyway, I digress. Milestones... yes, they were right on track with milestones.
Eating
Well, the girls were getting a bottle of whole milk three times a day and getting three meals a day, as well as snacks.
Sample Menu:
Breakfast:
waffle with butter and fruit spread
half banana
yogurt
Snack:
cheese
mum-mum
Lunch:
ravioli
watermelon
orange veggie like sweet potato cubes with butter and cinnamon
Snack:
crackers
Dinner:
Grilled Cheese
mango
green veggie like peas
Sleeping:
Ah, these were the good ole days! The girls were taking two 2-hour naps a day, plus sleeping 12 hours a night. It was amazing!!!
Stats:
I have no clue what they weighed as we didn't take them to the doctor this month... but I'm guessing about 18-19 pounds. Their weight gain tapered off once they were so mobile.
Fun things we did:
*Mommy and Daddy went to Punta Cana, got knocked up, while Grandmuggs and Pop Pop babysat.
*Went to Georgia for Amanda and Blu's wedding -- where I found out I was preggo.
*Went to Charleston for Amber's baby shower.
It was a realllllly busy month! One of the best!

Oh my gosh...I LOVE the look on Emmas face. She's definately up to something. What could she be plotting? Maybe to snatch that darn bow!Definately old enough to be gaining independence! So cute.
