This picture was taken at the NT scan -- baby was 12w5d... simply amazing!
Look at PCA hold his/her hands! So adorable. Love my baby!We had our first OB appointment with Dr. Grotegut (my hero who delivered the twins) on August 6, 2009. He is AMAZING!!!! He came in and have me a big huge bear hug. He is really good at what he does. He assured me that there is a very, very small chance for me to get sick again, but just to be on the safe side, he told me to take a baby asprin every day ... apparently, this cuts the risk of pre-eclampsia (only for those who have had it in a previous pregnancy) by HALF!!! Um, I'll do anything not to get sick again! This was a no brainer, especially since it has zero risk for PCA. He is also pushing me to have a vaginal birth ... not sure how I feel about this, but I'll consider it. I was really hoping for another c-section. Looking back now, I know that he is a big proponent of vaginal birth. Um, hello 32 hours of labor and then finally a c-section. Anyway, I'll entertain the thought. I think I might definitely opt for a c-section if we are having a boy -- only because we probably won't have any more kids. If it is another girl, I'll consider the vaginal birth because we might want to try for a boy... and the more c-sections you have, the riskier the pregnancy. So, I'll consider it.
On this day, we also had the NT scan which was amazing. Our baby has 1 in 6,000 or something like that -- need to dig out the paper-- for having downs and I forget what it was for trisomy. I'll post it later. But, our baby appears to be healthy.
I will say that despite the awesome experience of getting to see PCA, it was sorta clouded by the fact that the ultrasound tech was the same tech I had with the twins' NT scan. If you recall, the night that I had the NT scan with the twins, I had my subchorionic hemorrhage and had to subsequently go on bedrest for 5 weeks. So, while we got to see our amazing little baby, in the back of my head, I'm wondering if she is going to cause me to rupture. I remember the NT scan with the twins, she pushed so hard and I was convinced that she caused me to bleed... so you can imagine my surprise when she came to get us from the waiting room. I looked back at Allen and he was telling me with his eyes that I need to cool my jets and check my attitude. I was on fire.
Thankfully, it turned out okay and it appears that our baby is healthy. No bleeding. Yessssss.
Not to jinx it, but this pregnancy has been immensely different than the twins... let's hope I can keep 'em past 34 weeks!
