25 Random Things

Here is the "25 Random Things About Me" post from Facebook.

25 Random Things
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you

This is officially the third time that I've attempted to write this note... Wow, being a mother of twins and going to grad school really puts a damper on my facebook time...not that I don't always have it up on my computer, don't be confused.***

1. I met my husband, Allen, at a bar. Not just any bar, of course. COOL BEANS bar in Knoxville, TN. He was sitting at a table near the entrance. I thought he was cute -- the first blonde EVER that has caught my attention. I pulled out a chair, sat down and introduced myself. He was not that easily won over, however, but I ended up with his number. 11 months later, we were engaged. I was 20.

2. Allen is the smartest person I know, but don't tell him I told you so.

3. He gave me the most beautiful girls in the entire world.

4. Those beautiful girls, Emma and Olivia, nearly killed me during childbirth due to severe pre-e and HELLP syndrome. I was in labor for 32 hours before finally having a c-section. I stopped breathing in the OR, and had to receive epi. Allen was a wreck. I would do it a million times over again if it meant that they would be in my life.

5. Confession #6278 -- I have a housekeeper.

6. I was on the sailing team in college --- but quit after my boat capsized in a Charleston regatta (in February).

7. Allen built me a raised garden bed. I love to grow (and cook with) my own herbs and veggies. I think this summer I'm going to add soybeans and peas to my gardening repertoire.

8. My name is Rebecca and I have a disease called shopping.

9. I love my inlaws as if they were my own birth parents.

10. I am semi-depressed that my girls look NOTHING like me.

11. I get somewhat irritated when Allen comes home and the girls want nothing to do with me... they are all about their Daddy.

12. Speaking of irritated, I should be embarrassed by the fact that I also get annoyed when random people in the mall ask me tons of questions about twins. I can't get more than two feet into a store without being bombarded by the store greeter. I need to hang a sign on my stroller that says: "Yes, they are twins. No, they are not identical. Yes, I'm sure. They were born at 34 weeks, weighed 4.5 pounds, Emma, Olivia. Yes, they are family names. They are girls, are you kidding? They are wearing bows in their hair!?" I really love having twins, but it gets tough when you have a job to do. See #8.

13. I lost 80 pounds in 5 months.

14. My favorite color is lime green. Although, I never wear it. Except, of course, for like the 6 cashmere sweaters that my mom bought me.

15. Emma and Oliva are the best things that I have ever done.

16. I am a grad student, halfway through my MBA.

17. I started a blog! I haven't gotten very far, but here is the link: http://emmaandolivia.blogspot.com/

18. I can pinch with my toes (that one courtesy of Allen).

19. I have a serious addiction to Japanese Hibachi. I can eat everything -- the veggie tempura app, soup, salad, shrimp, veggies, rice and entree. It is kinda gross.

20. I drink wine from a box.

21. I get really offended by clutter which is really hard because I have twins and they come with a bunch of stuff. I find myself organizing my house 8 times a day. Moreover, it really drives me nutso when Allen comes home and makes piles with the mail and then leaves these piles on the kitchen counter. How many scientific journals does one need to get in a day? Nutso. Bonkers. Up the wall. Drives me crazy. There, I said it.

22. I get really excited when someone tells me they are expecting or planning on getting pregnant. I feel like it is somehow my job to tell them what to expect when expecting and the first few weeks post-partum. I'm sure it is really annoying to those who don't want the advice, but I think it helps me hold on to how much fun that time in my life was.

23. I cried tonight when Allen told me about the woman that beat her 18 month old to death.

24. I could not imagine going back to work right now. Rather, I could not imagine having to leave the house to work. For a paycheck. I work... Hard. BUT, it is the most rewarding and gratifying job I've ever had -- being a mommy. My girls are the light of my life.

25. I want to one day open up my own flower shop. I'm still taking suggestions on what to call the store - Becca's Blooms? Nahh...
