Making the Switch?

Alright. I’ve threatened this before … but I think I’m actually shopping around for a new blog site.

I’ve had 100 hits on this blog in just a few days. Who is reading this?

Truth be told, I have no clue.

And I’m putting myself out there. Like way out there.

And this is way TMI for 900 readers … and I am waaaaay too divulgent.

And, in case you haven’t noticed the increase word useage of “who-ha” and certain other expletives, I have a serious case of pregnancy-related verbal diarreha … no filter whatsoever. It appears that as soon as I hit 20 weeks in pregnancy, out goes my common decency in terms of not embarassing myself (or my husband for that matter). Therefore, I must limit the amount of folks I’m truly willing to embarass myself in front of.

This blog started as a way for me to catalog our journeys so one day the kids could read it. It is turning into something I wouldn’t let them read until they are MUCH older and can understand what I’m saying. And that’s not the point…or is it? I dunno.

And now I have tons of people following it, many of whom I have no idea who they are.

So… I’m looking for a new blog site where I can password protect and control who is visiting and reading about my family and my overly-personal pregnancy tracking. I think this just makes sense given the nature of this blog (my kids, the pregnancy, and the general over-sharing that tends to happen).

Any suggestions? I’m leaning towards wordpress.com … but open to anything.

Hmmmm… something to think about.

  1. I kind of thought of the same thing the other day when I was creating mine. I did notice that you can password protect this blog site...let me know if you want more info and I will try to see where I found it

  2. So I looked into this one to make it private ... and you have to invite people to read it. Sigh. I think with wordpress, they just go to the sight and can request your permission. And you can also move content from blogger to wordpress so you wouldn't have two live blogs. Everything would be in one place. I dunno. I wanted this to be a free-for-all, but I'm getting weirded out. I think my dad reads this... I'm sure he doesn't want to be involved in my over-sharing. lol.

  3. I've heard really good things about Wordpress, and supposedly it's much more user friendly--easier to post and edit pictures. I'm not very good about keeping up with your blog, but love your musings when I get the chance to catch up!

  4. John said I should make mine private too, but it is such a hassel to send everyone the e-mail. Let me know what you think of wordpress. I enjoy your musing and catching up on here, since I never get out anymore :)

  5. I've heard of a lot of the blogs I read switching to Wordpress. I think the security is a good idea. I had a family site on Window Live just to share pics with ALL of our out of town family and got some WEIRD comments from anonymous viewers and made it private right away! I think you having this blog is precious! I wish they had this, or maybe they did and I was too clueless to participate. What a joy for your girls to read later!
